Quinta da Alegria is a very light and  spacious detached villa,  sitting in a private 40 acre plot planted with avocados and citrus trees. It is  ideal for large families wanting to get away from  it  all, yet be close to good amenities.

The interior is  modern  and comfortable with mosquito netting on all windows. All the bedrooms (3 double and 3 twins) have en-suite bathrooms, chestnut wood floors and are fitted with fitted with  air-conditioning units and under floor heating (included in the rental). Other rooms in the villa  have terracotta tiled floors  and the large reception and dining rooms  have “French” windows, which   open onto a covered terrace for eating outdoors, looking down to the pretty garden with rockery, flowers and shrubs but mostly laid to lawn and with pines trees providing plenty of shade. 

The house, garden, swimming pool (15 x 7 metres with heating on request), outdoor shower and barbeque area (converted old bread oven and pigsty) are  enclosed by a natural stone wall, which allows one to look out but provides total privacy. There is a championship size tennis court at the rear of the property and a  shaded games area (table tennis and table football)  plus parking for several cars.

Silves is only a short distance away and offers several food shops, banks and restaurants. This ancient Moorish castle town also hosts a number  of different festivals throughout the summer and  has an old cork factory “Fabrica do Inglês”, which is now a museum and cultural centre, as well as housing a selection of good value and fun eateries and bars. There are several beaches and golf courses within a short  driving distance.

Kitchen  with service door to exterior. Laundry room  and larder, walk-in wardrobe and cloakroom.

FIRST FLOOR -  Landing/TV room with large flat screen TV and DVD  player, opening onto a partly covered terrace also shared with 2 bedrooms and with stairs down to the garden.  Twin bedroom with en-suite shower bathroom. THINGS TO DO

• Portugal is a golfer’s paradise both climate and choice wise, with the Algarve being one of Europe’s top golfing holiday destinations - the nearest golf course is right next door to the property    
• Visit Silves - Proud of its heritage as a former Moorish capital city, the town offers a medieval “castelo” (the best preserved in the province), a cathedral, and hosts several festivals throughout the summer
• Motor and sailing boats can be hired from Lagos marina, 20 minutes drive away
